This command is found in
.Buffer is a sophisticated clipboard that allows to store several documents, generally selections or layers, and to get them back afterwards. It is shared by all opened images. It disapears when Gimp is closed.
It opens three options:
It's the usual cutting method. A dialog is opened, asking you to give a name for this buffer.

A Buffers dialog is displayed, showing the list of the existing buffers, with a thumbnail and size for each one. Thanks to the buttons below, you can Delete, them, Paste or Paste Into them into the active image, or Paste as New.
